Happy Be Kind to Spiders Week/my birthday week!
|
|
|
For March and in particular, the final week of March kicked my butt. I started my new job on the 23rd, with my new boss changing my initial agreed-to hours the week prior to that, which totally threw things off. Especially in regards to transportation since gas prices in our area are averaging $5.69 per gallon. My initial plan was to take the bus, but it's a two hour ride and I am NOT a morning person. Then, I was late to work twice (which so got under my skin - I HATE being late) and the commute adjustment was very overwhelming while the work itself was very underwhelming. With that, prep for my book release and final Be Kind to Spiders Week prep, I did not find the time to get to send this email on time as hoped.

I swear, not everything in March felt like doom and gloom. Most of it was spent getting ready for going back to work. The goal of this job is to get my debt paid off by the end of this year then start building a nest egg by the end of my littles' next academic year. We are aiming for an approximate two year goal to get all our affairs in order to get back into our own space.

As mentioned in my last newsletter, my children's book officially dropped yesterday! Preorders should be arriving at your mailbox by the time you read this email! As a thank you for supporting this passion project, orders will also include a transparent vinyl sticker featuring one of the spider illustrations from the book AND a bookmark.

Life Occurrences & Creative Ventures— March 2026

I was horrible with taking photos in March outside of snapping pictures of my book! Although, I did take a TON of photos and video from the Celtic fair my family attended. I have attended this festival several times in my youth, so it felt like a lovely circle to bring my husband and children to enjoy it for the first time.

Overall, as guessed, a lot of my time was put into planning my book launch AND planning to sell it in person at the Spirit Alley happening at Winchester Mystery House in May. If you will be attending Winchester's Halfway to Halloween festivities on May 2nd or 3rd, come say hello! I don't know where my booth will be just yet, but I'll have copies of my book, art prints, stickers, bookmarks and some remaining Candy Corn Crew items. I'll be sure to share even more details in April's newsletter.

March Highlight: Calaveras Celtic Faire

We ate so much good food, enjoyed a ton of live Celtic music and had an overall great time! Little Monster even got her hair braided and it was so so pretty.

We all had so much fun, we're even thinking of going to their new year's Samhain faire in October. Have you ever been to a Celtic festival before? Even if you don't have any ties to the Celtic culture, I think it's a very fun thing to attend!

We did something quite different for our latest episode and I'd love to hear what you thought! We did a blind cocktail tasting and chatted all about the different fae folk in Irish folklore.

Our next episode will release just a little after the mid-point of April. We're mixing up the order this time around due to April's weekends being rather booked, so we'll host another round of questions from the beyond. Reply to this newsletter or email contact@sipsnspirits.com with your questions.

Older Goodies for my Gossips
|
|
I gain too much pleasure from loading these emails full of random toasts and teasers. However, I understand email newcomers may have missed out on something here or there. As such, there is a special page to explore, exclusive to my email subscribers. It is filled with all the goodies I have tucked away in emails since 2024, in addition to an email archive of past newsletters.

Like I said above, most of this month was spent putting the final touches on my book and figuring out what I'll actually need for May. I designed some bookmarks as my "business card" which turned out really cute as freebie bookmarks. Plus, their texture matches the feel of my book cover. Since I placed my orders for these items during the first week of the month, the rest of the time has been waiting on shipping notices.

Other than that, I am FREAKING OUT over getting Be Kind to Spiders Week things together. Although, yes, the book is part of my celebrations, I still wanted to be sure to do my daily posts. Unfortunately, with my new job starting, prepping for it to start, and getting my littles used to attending their after school care program, I put blog prep off. Easter was on Sunday, my birthday is this Saturday and we'll be going camping. In addition, I've had all kinds of appointments to take myself and my littles to throughout this week. Now, it's a mad dash to get each post together one day at a time. Why does this always feel like the case?! 😹

Thankfully, half my posts have just been write-ups. The timeline still feels tight, though! I was going to create a new cocktail too, but that idea had to be dropped. I'm still trying to figure out where I'll find the time to make a new Sips & Spirits cryptid cocktail for May too. However, there are a couple crafting posts I really wanted to follow through on and am working on today. AND! I have NO idea what to do for my birthday post. I wanted to do something special, but I might not do anything. 🙃 GYAH! Hopefully, I'll get around to everything I want...wish me luck!
