An Alacritous August
Whew! It's the end of August. How was it so unbelievably busy? Yet not? All at the same time? I still don't think I've caught my breath from the whirlwind of last month, but I feel like September is going to offer that. Just a feeling in my bones. Although the family and I are still adjusting to all that life is bringing us, Midsummer Scream definitely offered some of the repreave I was looking for.
The timing of all of life's happenings and Aunt Flo put me in the weirdest of headspaces and I took some of the lamest things personally. I'm marking this as the first Midsummer Scream weekend I cried during. And that's huge, because I don't do crying in public spaces. No even happy tears. Let me give an example. Toward the end of the Vogel Victorian presentation I was blinking away tears. Not exactly because of anything she was saying, but when someone asked about glass on chandeliers, it made me think of my grandmother's house and her chandeliers and all the light bulbs I replaced on them and the rooms I would normally be preparing to decorate upon our return from Midsummer Scream and I spiraled mentally. Who knew that could happen?

I tried to write these feelings down in an IG story. You know. The whole, "be genuine and share your experiences" and that had the oddest unexpected responses. As someone who just doesn't talk about her emotions, I constantly regret telling anyone anything (privately or publicly) because it is always misinterpreted. Or I'm just really terrible at expressing my feelings. But I digress.

September is going to be more satisfactory. I may have to become Mrs. White or Colonel Mustard to do so...but we'll see what grace the Great Pumpkin grants me.

Life Adventures & Blog Posts — August 2025
- August 8th: Offiically moved out
- August 13th: Littles started school
- August 15th-17th: Midusmmer Scream
Although I know we did a LOT this month, we didn't do a lot adventures-wise. We were in a mad-dash to move before escrow was supposed to close on my grandmother's house by August 1st (which just closed this passed weekend - 🤐), get the kids settled before they started school AND pack/prep for Midsummer Scream. Whew! September is going to be much fuller, I can tell already. For August, you'll just have to settle for my highlights until I get a proper set of posts up on the blog.

Midsummer Scream Friday Highlight: Sighting Spooky Friends
Honestly, I don't think I've ever met so many spooky pals on the kick-off day! Each interaction was a mental lifesaver since our littles keeping us from making it through the vendor floor on Friday (our usual game plan).

Yes, the photos slide for Friday shows more than just Friday, but I forgot to take most of my photos on Friday and remembered to snap them later throughout the weekend.

Midsummer Scream Saturday Highlight: Return of the Living Drag 3
Honestly, this was not the ONLY highlight of Saturday. There were many! However, the drag show is ALWAYS a fun time for us and (thankfully) our littles cooparated, letting Erick sit through it in full.

Initially, we were aiming to be sponsors for MSS. Unfortunately, deadlines passed. However, I found out that the drag show was still looking for sponsors and we went for it. It was extremely fun getting to see Sips & Spirits pop up on the pre-show slides as a sponsor.

The queens all brought their A-game, but Mr. He and Luxe had to be my favorite performances once again!

Midsummer Scream Sunday Highlight: Tales of Blaze City
For nearly each year attending Midsummer Scream, I have intended to participate in the Force of Nature Productions experience they have previewed. Each time, I missed it.
This time around, Erick manage to do the concorse interactions while I was in presentations. We then took our completed card to their booth for the final performance.
I am a sucker for interactive experiences and they totally nailed it. What this troup is putting on is AMAZING! This is going to become my first go-to thing each year from now on.

- Halloween Stationary Collections from Crimson Hour
Turns out we're getting some new stationary collections from Crimson Hour on Friday, August 29th. I always intend to order some pieces and this year is going to be the year! Who wants to be my Halloween pen pal so I can use these beauties?
- "It's Hall-Lore-Ween Again!" out on September 16th
I received copy of "Hall-Lore-Ween two years ago and fell in love with it. Imagine my surprise to hear it picking up some steam AND coming out with a second book! I'm so happy for Josh and can't wait to dive into his new volume.
- Join Me for a Halloween Community Discussion
Remember this discussion I hosted two years ago with my Halloween pals; Cromwell Witch, The Halloween Collector and Steam and Kittens? I have been dying for discussions with like-minded Halloweenies since. This is my siren call for discussion topic ideas and volunteers to join me. Just reply to this email if you'd be interested or have some topic ideas you'd love to hear discussed.

What I'm Weaving Behind the Cobwebs
My Halloween countdown is going to be so drastically different this year which really sucks as I am mentally beyond ready to break out the boxes of pumpkin pails and tissue garlands. I am reworking my countdown plans in a way that might resonate with others in the community that are also without yards to haunt or budgets to shop with. I'm pretty excited with what I've cooked up so far and I think it will be fun to see how this approach is received.
Other than that, I've been collecting all the photos and videos from Midsummer Scream and hope to churn out not just that, but all the promised Winchester Centennial Speaker pieces I've been remiss with...just have to locate those had-written notes I took. Things are still a bit all over and not in easy-to-find places from moving.
TL:DR version? The Halloween countdown is still on and both Midsummer Scream posts and remaining Winchester Centennial posts are on their way!
