Mischiefs of March
March kicked off with me getting in a fight with a Christmas decoration. No joke! The candy cane won and I walked away with a black eye and Christmas decor still not put away. Totally how I wanted to start the month. Hahaha...

Physically, I was fine. It was all cosmetic. The bruise had no pain, just the crazy discoloration of purple you might expect with a black eye. But the two weeks my bruise took to vanish was really eye-opening to how people's first perspective of you is vexingly vanity-based. Typically, I don't pay much attention to this, but let me tell you, it left me feeling all kinds of feelings on how flawed and backwards we are as a "higher thinking" species when we should be thinking beyond our primal instincts of fearing something "different". Email me if you want to talk about it, cause do I have some thoughts on this!

About mid-month, we made our annual trip to my mother-in-laws and we got to sneak off for a little date nite. We headed for our favorite tiki bar in Santa Cruz where we enjoyed watching seals nap, the full moon rise over the ocean, and a couple of delicious cocktails with equally delicious desserts.

Surprise! I actually got to do quite a bit of crafting this month! I know. I'm just as surprised as you. Scroll down to what I'm weaving behind the cobwebs for all the juicy previews I've been showing off to some friends in private. I am so excited for them. Finally for my cherry on top...I have been motivated to get back into playing catch-up on the blog! You'll find two new posts on Winchester that I've been meaning to share since the Centennial celebrations in 2023. About time, right? My goal is to share one-to-two posts a month on Winchester Mystery House Centennial talks in addition to other experiences I meant to share, but never got around to. I'm so excited about these! I hope you enjoy what's new until my next newsletter pops up.

Life Adventures & Blog Posts March 2025
Travel adventures were pretty light this month, but that's because we just celebrated our anniversary yesterday, Erick's birthday last week and both mine and Lil' boo's birthdays are coming up in April. We tried to keep it simpler this month because of it all. Like I said, the creative spirit was moved within me this month so I did a lot of that in place of mini travels.

Our final cocktail mixer tasting is happening TONIGHT! We fell a little behind our schedule, but wanted to be sure to wrap up our series before March ended.

I wonder what boos we'll haunt in the spring...For now, be sure to give our 12 weeks of winter grogs a watch. It was so fun to take on this 12 week challenge and I think it shows!

March Highlight: Haunted High Tea with the Vogel Victorian
As I mentioned in my last email, we spent the eve of our wedding anniversary at Winchester Mystery House to enjoy a haunted high tea with the Vogel Victorian. To say we had a blast is an understatement!

Erick and I were talking about Friday's experience all day long yesterday and we're already making plans to check out Diana's home in Santa Ana as soon as she gets her dates dropped.

The evening and host were slap-ably charming and it was even more of a bonus to get all dressed up for a spooky evening of fun. I cannot wait to dive into this more in an upcoming post, but you get a tiny sneak peek here first!

What I'm Weaving Behind the Cobwebs
As you may have noticed in the photo above, that Amazon dress find I shared in my last email ended up working out perfectly for the tea party. I did have to alter the length of the skirt (too long) and I used a linen button-up blouse in place of the one that came with the dress, but all in all, it was a nice piece perfect for my time restraint needs. I added daisy patches on either side of the bodice and onto Erick's vest so we could match, a daisy trim along the skirt's ruffle and back waterfall overskirt, and then replaced the buttons with some gold cobweb ones I happened to have. I also had this floral lace that I made the cravat from and added to the cuffs and collar of the blouse. To top off the look, I tucked some silk daisies into my hair and wore daisy pearl earrings.

"But Chelsea, why daisies?" Well, not only are daisies one of the flowers for my birth month, they also happen to be Sarah Winchester's favorite flower and was the nickname she used for her niece, Marion.

I was really under a time restraint so I couldn't add as much as I had hoped, but the end result is what really counts and it is SUPER cute! The dress is rather comfortable and was easy to put on by myself without help. It isn't "true" Victorian, but I really wasn't worried that someone would come up to me with a period violation card. My only complaint would be towards the top it came with. As I mentioned before, I did change it out for another because it was not comfortable nor did it breathe well.

Moving on to other projects, you can bet I'm in a tizzy to wrap up what's remaining of Be Kind to Spiders Week projects. It starts next Sunday! I tried to give myself the theme of "spinning simply" and for the most part, I've stayed true to this, but I've been feeling just a little behind with actually wrapping up projects before next weekend...

But just how gorgeous is this stained glass candle holder? I'm so in love and excited to share my process on the blog for how you can make your own! Eek! Exciting!

When it comes to unfinished projects, this is the one I'm fussing over the most. I don't want to give it away just yet to what it is, but feel free to email me a guess! I got to learn a new skill with this project...flocking! Which is quite addicting and now I'm trying my darndest not to go wild and attempt to flock any project I can.

Outside of these two things, I tried my hand at doing some spider-themes watercolor projects with the littles. Their final pieces came out so lovely and I'm very excited to show them off.

Is there anything you would like to try spinning simply for Be Kind to Spiders Week? I'm still short one post and am looking for inspiration...
