December 2025

A Heartfelt cheers to you, Subscriber!

December comes to a close this very evening, taking with it the whirlwind that was 2025. Over here, some of you know, I don't really fall into the new year resolutions thing; I prefer to reflect on the new year with the changing of the seasons, when Spring returns. It always seems strange to claim the new year begins while we are in the dead of Winter.

Anyways. There's plenty to see, but I sincerely wish you all a peaceful rest of this wintertime. So fill your glass and toast along as we welcome in 2026.

Life Adventures & Blog Posts — December 2025
|
|
December has been intense! Every Saturday (save this past one), we were romping through the gardens of the Winchester Mystery House property. From the weekly oddities market to the assorted events each week, we were left tired, but in merry spirits. In addition, we celebrated Little Monster's 8th birthday, made a full Victorian outfit in a gingerbread style, sewed some capes for the littles, attended school winter activities and helped my side of the family move some things around in preparation of my father starting cancer treatments in January. Like I said, it's been non-stop.

December on the Blog

I had a few more posts planned, like sharing about the Christmas Spirits Magazine and a breakdown of my Victorian gingerbread dress, but time was fleeting this month. Still, I'm quite proud of what I posted despite everything happening.

December Highlight: Holidays at the Winchester Mansion
|
|
There was so much fun to be had every Saturday on the Winchester Mystery House property, it's hard to pick just one festivity as my favorite!

Each special ticket event had its charm. I only wish each event lasted just a little longer. There was so much to experience each weekend, it could be overwhelming at times. My only regret? I didn't see Krampus every wekeend!

There was...So. Much. Hand sewing this month! My initial plans for my gingerbread dress kept changing and the month I thought I had to make progress turned into the literal night before still getting pieces together. Then , I also sewed an equal amount of trim onto my husband's suit so he could be my gingergent. In the end, it all came out ever so nicely. I'll have to dress up and get some better photos than the few we took at Winchester. Which makes me a little sad. When we arrived on the 13th for the tea party, we were so in the moment, that we completely forgot to snag some proper photos of both mine and my husband's fits. If anything, I have this gorgeous piece to wear for some festive frolicking next year!

Other than my Victorian dress, I felt like I got to get pretty crafty this month. In addition to my gingerbread dress, I also made a spider gingerbread cookie hairpiece and gingerbread snowflake spiderweb cookies. I found this really cool dimensional paint and piped it like icing onto the "cookies" cut out of baked sculpty. The end result isn't perfect, but I do love how they look like gingerbread cookies!

Also, since I had all this surplus fabric from purchasing multiple types of velvet to know what would work best, I made these double sided capes for the littles with a stretch velvet. They've been wearing them off and on and even wanted to wear them to show Santa.

My favorite part of all these sewing projects is that I now have a beloved Christmas skirt to wear every Yuletide season. I've already been pairing it with different combinations in my wardrobe for delightful results. This skirt is SO much fun to wear that I think I'll need to make it in several other fabric variations. This month has revived my crafting for fun side and I am determined to bring that into the new year.

Speaking of crafting into the new year...I am going to spend January focusing on how I want to present my videos when posting on YouTube. I really want to work on creating specialized titles for myself that are simple animations, but I also want to play with presentation formats and figure out what feels like me. I'm not trying to gain an audience or anything, but I've always had a vision for how I want to put out my videos, but I could never really put my finger on how exactly I wanted that to be done. I hope this coming month will grant me the time to look into it and flesh out my visions.

Lastly, I realize that I have been uncharacteristically active on Instagram these last few months, but I have also been quietly setting limits for myself with social media and even reconsidering how I want to continue interacting with some relationships I've built. There's been so much on our plate this year and the mental drain is not something I need to add to it. I will most likely be less active in the new year once more, but I have a format I'm enjoying and plan to stick to it whenever I do post.
