Be Kind to Spiders Week 2022: Small Business Creatives Inspired By Spiders

I love supporting spooky small business and creatives, but did you realize how many of them are inspired by spiders? If you’ve been looking to add some amazing pieces of art to your collection, be it jewelry, prints or more, I’ve got eight you should be checking out!

I cannot resist the creations coming from Christina’s shop. Heavily inspired by antique items (which she also sells), her products have an elegant dark gothic flare. You’ve seen my notebook from this shop before, but my hubby gifted me with the pocket mirror for Valentine’s day. She has a plethora of spider web accented items that make my cobwebbed heart so happy.

The vintage gals of LittleGhosttCo haunt my walls all year round. She does adorable, what I like to call “pattern-posed” ladies with vintage outfits inspired by the spooky, pop-culture and more. In addition to her prints, she’s been expanding into pins and stickers. Her lovely spider lady print hangs right next to me at my desk space and it feels like she is smiling down on me as I work.

Kate Ortiz

I have not yet had the fortune of getting my hands on Kate’s art, unlike the rest of the creatives featured, but I couldn’t not share. Like me, she recently entered the world of motherhood and is mastering the balancing act of that with her creative passions. Due to this, she hasn’t released much in the form of prints or other products. However, she shares her beautiful work on her Instagram often and if you are a tattoo person, you can purchase flash sheets of her pieces!

There is so much I adore about Jackie and her art. She works in mixed mediums and I was fortunate enough to get my hands on one of her amazing spider sculptures. Be sure to give a gander at her shop and all prints focused around her adorable ghost, Violet.

I have long been a cheerleader for Drew’s amazing works. Although not many of them have a HEAVY spider/cobweb influence, he does work them in on occasion. The main reason for sharing him here? I have to brag about this amazing commission he did for me of a spider queen. I need to get back in touch and see if he can do a Tarantula king to make a set…

I just adore that all of her jewelry pieces use REAL cobwebs, humanely harvested. My mom gifted me a pair of her glow-in-the-dark cobweb moon earrings and matching necklace. Unsurprisingly, they are some of my more frequently worn pieces of jewelry.

Carrie Anne Hudson

So many have thrown Carrie’s name in my direction, and I cannot believe she wasn’t on my radar sooner. There are so many spiders, cobwebs and other creepy crawlies throughout her work and if you love spooky and tiki, this is your ghoul. I currently only own this Ghost mug pin. Luckily, I’m planning for a big print & pin haul from her during Midsummer Scream.

I know, I know. Shameless plug. I don’t need to say much about these little spiderlings, but I love them so and would love to spread a little more love in their direction. There is something really special happening with Candy Corn Crew and I encourage you to take a look around the site. The shop is not currently open, but I have freebies hidden throughout the pages that are available for download. Additionally, there will also be a big shift on the capers when August rolls around, so be sure to keep an eye on that.

I am always on the lookout for more small business and creatives inspired by spiders and there are many more out there. This time around, I chose to focus more on the creators I have been a customer for. If you know of any I didn’t include here, please be sure to send them my way by dropping their name or link in the comments!
