September 2025
Happy October! I didn't see September slip out the back door there...so here we are! And...I'm still not quite sure how we got here...I know I did stuff in September...but also, not? I'm not sure. I think I'm still struggling with our living situation. Some weeks, it's fine and I've got the attitude of "we can do this!", then on some days...the desire to wander off into the woods and leave the California coasts behind is strong. But just running off to do whatever I want feels like a wild impulse to act on.

I am proud to report that I did a TON of blogging in September. Well, at least a lot of blogging by my typical posting cadence standard. Most of the posts have been back-dated to when I intended to release them...just because. Be sure to check out all of the new blog stuff in the "Life Adventures & Blog Posts" section below, complete with working links.

As a side note...I've been debating on doing a haul post for both Creep It Real and Midsummer Scream, but would love to hear your thoughts on this. Especially since my family is now considered a low-income family, I seem to be even more conscious when I see a haul post or video lately showing off purchases in bulk. Would you be interested in seeing a whole purchase haul from an event or just get a post on a new small business I discovered at said events? Please let me know by replying to this email!

With September now gone and it being October 1st, I'm thrilled to share that I found a very fun way to participate in the Crypt Keeper Countdown to Halloween. I know in August, I was really lamenting over how I would actually participate based on my old habits, but my attituded has made a complete 180. I even volunteered to design some of the badges this year for participants to use during the countdown! I'm quite please with how they turned out. They even inspired a handful of my posts for the countdown. Which are already written up and scheduled! Eek! And I have a very very VERY special treat coming to your inbox in the newsletter on October 29th. I think you're going to love it. Most especially if you are a ghost story enthusiast.

As you may suspect, I did NOT get that Halloween discussion panel together for September like I wanted. However! Falling in line with the vibe I'm delivering during the countdown to Halloween, I have a better idea and will be trying to host it in November. I'll be reaching out to spooky pals in October to see who will join me and share the good news in the October newsletter!

I thought I wouldn't have much to write for this September newsletter, but it turns out I was wrong! As such, it is time to raise our cups in farewell to September and in celebration to the month I look forward to all year long...

Life Adventures & Blog Posts — September 2025
Erick and I had such a blast at the 18+ Members Night at the end of August. It was a lovely kids-free evening. Which was followed by an inspiring full morning at the Winchester Mystery House with the house historian. Then! We made the crazy impromptu decision to go to Creep It Real OC on the Friday afternoon before. It was so much fun to do something so out-of-the-blue and we got to spend a lot of time chatting up our favorite blue boy in his sandcastle. Finally, wrapping up September we doubled down with autumnal activities by checking out Winchester's Festival Fright Nights with my sister AND explored as many of our local pumpkin patches as the littles would let us.

In addition to all the adventuring, I tried my darndest to play catch-up with WMH centennial posts AND getting my October blog posts written. Honestly? I'm feeling pretty good about the directions I've been taking everything! I just have to get more on track with my video editing...

September Highlight: Historian Tour
I am kicking myself for not writing up a blog post immediately after getting home from this amazing tour. But I felt guilty for not having finished the others...I have said it before and I will say it again and again; you are always in for a treat when you get to do a tour with the house historian, Janan!

This tour was amazing and SO many details that had escaped my notice before were brought to light. It was the PERFECT way to celebrate Sarah Winchester Day.

September Highlight: Creep It Real OC
Quite possibly the craziest thing my husband and I have done since before kids was deciding on Friday afternoon to attend Creep It Real OC the following day because we were motivated to show support for Mr. He. Yes, we really attended Creep It Real JUST to show our support to Mr. He's display.

Because this was such an unplanned trip, we had very limited budget for shopping, but the time had was absolutely worth it. I still can't believe we did this!

What I'm Weaving Behind the Cobwebs

Earlier this month, I did an Instagram Live to re-organize my Halloween decor collection and pick out the ones I'd keep out for October. Before doing so, I had all my Halloween decor stored in seven Costco 27 gallon totes. Now, I've got it all down to one 77 gallon tote and one 40 gallon tote. It's already cleared up SO much space in our storage unit. Now the question is what to do with all those left-over totes...(I did Christmas later in the month and got two 40 gallon totes into one 77 gallon tote. It's a tote surplus over here!)

One of our Osmo Pockets (2nd gen) was starting to get temperamental and would stop recording after two to three minutes. Not ideal for our podcast recordings or trying to capture longer moments during outings. Honestly, we've been wanting to upgrade to the latest version for a while, but it just wasn't in the cards. And then, tariffs hit and it was costing nearly a thousand dollars from DJI. Yikes! But we noticed Costco still had it and they put the little asterisk signaling shoppers that they were getting ready to stop stocking it. Right before Creep It Real, I decided to splurge with a payment plan for it. We have loved DJI's Osmo Pockets since their first generation. In fact, we still have it! However, you can totally feel the difference in video and photo quality and the ease of the interface from the previous generations. It was already an easy-to-use camera, but it is eve more intuitive and I am so happy I went for it.

To play with the new camera and try out something different for the YouTubes, I placed it in different corners of our bedroom while I set out Halloween decorations and worked on some activities for the kids. Again, I cannot believe how seamless this camera works in its operation. I'm hoping to put together a little video of what I captured, but I wanted to show off the timelapse I took with it making a paper chain countdown for the kids. This timelapse will not be fully used in the highlight video I and working on, so I thought this would be a great place to repurpose the footage.
