Sugar Moon Cocktail

From 2022 to 2023, my goal was to create a full moon cocktail to represent each full moon of the year, ending with this sugar Moon cocktail. Although I did pretty well keeping up with these cocktails each month, my final cocktail of the series was one of the few never shared. This cocktail is three years overdue, but better late than never.

We entered the New Moon on February 17th, and so it is time to collect the ingredients for my Sugar Moon Cocktail! The upcoming full moon occurs on March 3rd. Hopefully this gives interested mixologists enough time to collect the ingredients.

The idea to make a cocktail inspired by the sugar moon posed an interesting challenge. The trick was highlighting the sugar flavor without being ungodly sweet. A true struggle with this final full moon cocktail. Luckily, I played with the idea of building off of the sweetness behind a sparkling wine.

The experiment came together more seamlessly than I expected. The ending result being something really fun and vibrant that builds like a party in your mouth.

The True Sugar Moon Challenge – Rock Candy

The biggest challenge actually turned out to be finding some rock candy. I found a recipe for making it at home. However, if you’re not gifted in kitchen science, rock candy can be found in sweets shops and novelty shops like World Market or even on Amazon. Originally, I tooted Party City’s horn as always carrying it in a variety of colors. Sadly, Party City is no more, so it is no longer an option.

With this being my final make of my full moon cocktails, it had to be celebratory. The rock candy and sparkling wine adding quite the fun flare.

Will you be giving the sugar moon cocktail a try? Be sure to tell me what your thoughts on it are!

Wrapping up my Full Moon Cocktails series

This Full Moon cocktail collection was so much fun to curate. Working under the restraints of using one specific spirit was an enjoyable challenge and I adore the variety I came up. The Pink Moon is still one of my favorites, but I learned so much through this and it helped support my cocktail crafting for Sips & Spirits in such wonderful ways.

I would like to revisit these cocktails to take more consistent photos in addition to changing up the recipe cards. Although WordPress’s recipe card plugin has done its job, I would really like to create printable graphic recipe cards like I have for Sips & Spirits. Perhaps this will be a project for 2027…

There is still one final full moon cocktail to create for this collection and many new projects on the way for 2026. I don’t want to overload my plate, but I promise that revamping my recipe cards is something I plan to do in the near future!

Multiple interests and resourceful optimism keeps this mama of two always at the ready for life's next adventure.Meet your hostess here.
