In The Secret Spider Garden Announcement
I am celebrating on the eve of Save a Spider day with an official announcement for my upcoming children’s book, “In The Secret Spider Garden”! This passion project of mine has been under wraps since manifesting in January. When it comes to my own creative projects, I can almost NEVER keep a secret. As such, it is thrilling to finally share the news with you!
“In The Secret Spider Garden” will publish on April 7th, 2026. Although this children’s rhyming picture book is intended for young and old alike, it is geared towards reading times with children ages 3 years to 10 years of age. My hopes and intentions were, in one part; to bring some springtime whimsy to families, and in the second part; to illustrate endearing spiders that are depicted realistically, yet still playful and charming. In my opinion, it is the perfect treat to announce as spider season begins.

This whole process has been a labor of love. I traditionally illustrated each drawing in the book with paper, pencil, acrylic markers, and watercolors. Then, I photographed each illustration to digitize the layout like envisioned in my storyboards. Every step of this experience unlocked new skills both artistically and digitally.
Unsurprisingly, I gained additional skill-building outside of completing the book. Such as how to prepare my manuscript for print, how to get an ISBN and copyright for my art and words, and even how to catalogue my book with the Library of Congress. (Gyah! That feels so official feeling! Can you believe it?!) In addition, learning how to turn this project into an eBook turned into yet another bout of knowledge-tapping. Wild!
A Little More About “In The Secret Spider Garden”

As mentioned previously, it is my hope that this book brings some wonder and joy to the reader. At the same time, my goal was to show that spiders could be represented realistically and not seem scary.
In the secret spider garden, four eight-legged nymphs tend to childhood gifts. This traditionally illustrated hardcover picture book features four different spiders who frolic among the flowers. Each flower present in the garden symbolizes a different gift that each spider nurtures. These magical spiders act as a reminder of what we carry inside us even after we have grown. By the end of the book, our spider gardeners gift readers with their childhood passions re-ignited.
It is my hope that long-time followers of my blog, art, and Be Kind to Spiders Week festivities will appreciate this modest tome that I have assembled. I always assumed that the Candy Corn Crew might grace the pages of a book first. However, this story just poured out of me and I knew I had to bring it to life. I’m so proud of making this happen in tribute to one of my favorite weeks of the year. Naturally, I’m certain you will adore it too.
