Be Kind to Spiders Week 2024: Sting’s Gift Cocktail

Inspired by the lumpy and bulbous shape of Sting’s egg sack at the start of the 2024 film by the same name, I present to you the Sting’s Gift cocktail. This citrus-forward libation uses Tarantula tequila and blackberries for a frosty bite you won’t soon forget. Taking inspiration from the wintery setting of the film, this cocktail will leave drinkers weary of what they may discover should they drink too quickly.

In addition, it’s my birthday today. This feels like the perfect drink to share in celebration!

This cocktail is garnished with frozen blueberries to keep the flavor from being diluted by melting ice while also perfectly represent the egg sack our film’s antagonist made her debut through. The perfect drink for tarty-cocktail fans with a unique and refreshing bite.

Notes on the Sting’s Gift Cocktail

My husband and I have tasted Tarantula tequila on the Sips & Spirits podcast. It’s a very unique and easy to drink spirit loaded with flavor. In fact, if you’re ever planning a spider party, this liquor has a wide selection of cocktails to pick from.

Incorporating the blackberries was a big deal to me because I really wanted that visual. Luckily, this recipe doesn’t require fresh blackberries to be delicious. Frozen blackberries work just as well and are needed for the garnish anyways. Perfect for those who might have a harder time getting your hands on fresh blackberries when they’re not in season.

However, it did take a few tries to get the combination right. Thankfully, Belvoir Farm’s sparkling elderflower lemonade always comes in handy when it comes to balancing out potentially overly-tart mixtures.

Sting’s Gift for the Charlottes

I don’t want all my non-alcoholic drinking friends to think they don’t get to benefit from Sting’s Gift. She’ brought a special’s got a mocktail version for all of her beloved Charlottes. Because, let’s be honest. Charlotte would appreciate this too. For this reason, this next recipe contains no alcohol for everyone to enjoy.
