October 2025
Happy October! Has it been a wild October or what? For myself, SURPRISINGLY, it has been a lot of fun. However, I'm definitely ready to pack the month away and just snuggle up in my velvet robe and lounge around in a very macabre and spooky fashion.

I am so proud of myself! I posted every day I wanted to for the countdown with just one final post coming this Friday after the trick-or-treaters have gone to bed. This rhythm and approach really worked out for me this year. I'm already thinking up fun ideas for next year inspired by the random costumes I whipped up on the fly for events we attended the final weekend of October. I cannot help but be curious to hear what you thoughts on my posting style was this year. Did you enjoy the topics I covered? Did it even feel different to you? They felt that way to me, but that could all be in my head too. Let me know!

As mentioned above, October felt very full and I am already ready to pack up my Halloween things and welcome in the winter ghosts. It feels perfect that we'll be experiencing Daylight Savings this weekend for Halloween here in the US. How are you calling the spirits as the Autumn nights get longer and transition into winter? Are you ready for what has become my favorite time of the year?

Remember how I wanted to do some Halloween Community discussions? Well, I never got the chance to reach out to my spooky peeps to ask them to join me. Hopefully, you won't mind if I drop a shorter email to announce that information in the next week or two. Until then...

Life Adventures & Blog Posts — October 2025
We did experience a death on my husband's side of the family a little before the mid-October mark, which just hung at the backs of our minds a little bit throughout the month.

From getting to explore the Martinelli's (yes, the Apple Cider company) company store, which happens to be based in my current home town to making chocolate lollipops and attending local events, we had a very fulfilling month!

October Highlight: "Determined to Enjoy Myself" Mood Reel
This line from the film "Clue" hit me hard as I was stressing that I wouldn't really enjoy myself during the Halloween season. Everything felt like last minute planning and I'm still figuring out things from our move.
However, this line resonated with me and I thought, "why not make a reel for that?" and it helped serve as a reminder all month long.

October Highlight: Centennial Speaker Series with Elizabeth Kile Recording
As promised in my post, you can listen to the full hour of Elizabeth Kile discussing ghost story tropes, the haunted places around San Jose that emulate them and her book, "Haunted San Jose".

A delightful listen, especially for thematic writers. I wish I could be a student in one of her classes!

What I'm Weaving Behind the Cobwebs

Did you know? All of the photo and video included in blog posts this month were captured on our Osmo pocket 3? I am in LOVE with this little device and it was well worth the splurge. I'm just...in awe over what it is pulling off. It has also made me more mindful of capturing moments and I'm just loving the video quality and integration I am achieving between it and my phone.

Anywho, I know that earlier in this newsletter I said it was time to take a rest, but I also have an idea list a mile long of things I want to do for Winter-time blogging in honor of the seasonal magic beginning on October 31st. I have nearly all but one of my November slots figured out, but I am especially excited for the week I have planned in December to celebrate a VERY special anniversary to one of my all time favorite films. Spoiler alert; it's also going to be the topic for our December Sips & Spirits episode.
Outside of that, I was informed that I am being invited to do coverage for some events this December and I cannot wait for the official invitation to arrive. Will hopefully be able to share more in November about it.
Outside of that, watching m children do all these craft activities this past month has me itching to do a few crafting projects of my own. Just for the sake of creating. I'm not sure if I'll actually make a post about what I'm making, but while we're on the same topic...I am brainstorming some ideas to theme what is already in my wardrobe for some spooky-themed winter vibes. I think I may spend this weekend sketching those ideas out.
Lastly, I am really wanting to think about what I want to do with my YouTube. I know I want to create videos, but I want to do something with a little more substance beyond the simple recap/summery videos I have made to support my blog posts. Most of my creative brain juices will probably dedicate towards fleshing out my ideas and updating video graphics to feel more "me". Wish me luck!
